Brian Nelson has been a significant presence in the Seattle music scene since the late 1980s. After graduating from high school, he attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Production and Engineering. Brian returned to Seattle in 1990 and quickly became a member of the band Gorilla, which achieved success through record releases with Sub Pop, Bag of Hammers, Estrus, Thrill Jockey, and Hell Yah Records.
While touring with Gorilla, Brian also offered his audio services as an Independent audio engineer at The Music Source, where he recorded many local bands during the early '90s Seattle scene.
In addition, he was hired as a Mastering Engineer for a large satellite music company, mastering hundreds of titles. This role led him to become a Music Producer for all cover songs produced for the company from 1995 to 2003.
During this period, Brian played drums for several bands, including Love Battery, The Purdins, Gorilla, Spoiler, Broshis, F-Holes, and Dead Man.
In 2003, he established Elliott Bay Recording Co., which has evolved into No Count Studios. By 2025, Brian transformed his garage into a studio, where he enjoys collaborating with local musicians on music production, studio recording, and publishing, contributing to the Tacoma music scene.
